League Releases Progress Report and Action Steps on Mental Health Project
Co-Chaired by Citizens League Past-Chair Gary Cunningham and Minnesota Human Services Commissioner Kevin Goodno, the Minnesota Mental Health Action Group released its progress report and initial action steps yesterday.
This group has been a fantastic opportunity to take all the work that has been done to study this issue (some of it by the League), and begin to take action to change the mental health system in Minnesota!
The integrity, urgency, honesty and willingness to change among all the participants in this effort have been greater than in any policy reform project I've worked with before.
Minnesota Public Radio has been covering this issue all week through their series "A Bad State of Mind: Minnesota's Fractured Mental Health System". This coverage is tremendous, and puts a human face on the impact of our system's dysfunction.
Here's the press release.
Here's the Action Steps Report.
