A great job opportunity

We don't normally post job opportunites, but this one at the Saint Paul School District has great potential.

The Saint Paul District has a number of exciting initiatives underway. Kent Pekel is one of the most-talented people I know.

Apply early. Apply often.

...and stay tuned for job opportunities here at the Citizens League!

Hello Folks:

I'm emailing you in the hope that you know someone who is a budding or fully fledged education policy wonk who is looking for an exciting (if not that well paying) challenge. In looking ahead to the recent charge that Superintendent Harvey has given me to take data-driven decision making to the next level in Saint Paul schools, I have made the decision to consolidate two existing positions and to go without clerical support in order to create a "Management Assistant" position that will work directly with me on all aspects of strategic planning in our school district. I think it will be the kind of job I would loved to have had and would have benefited greatly from coming right out of school (either undergrad or grad). I'm looking for someone who is creative and energetic with a passion for public policy and education (though not necessarily previous experience in those areas). This person will do a lot of writing and bringing stakeholder groups together to build consensus on various issues. He or she will work with me to publish a weekly, Web-based interactive Superintendent's Bulletin that will go to all staff with the intent of engaging them much more directly in discussing and understanding critical issues for our schools and community today. The projected salary range depending upon experience is $35,397-47,436.

I'm forwarding a link to the job posting to you because in the course of your work you might be aware of someone who would be interested in this job. I know it's the dead of summer but I want to cast as wide a net as possible in looking for the right person to take on this exciting challenge. I'm also reaching out to all of the Saint Paul teachers who did not have their contracts renewed due to budget cuts this spring to see if they are interested in moving into the administration/policy world for a period of their careers.

If you want to give anyone my phone number to talk about this position, please do so.
