The Right Wing of the American Experiment: Lessons learned
I was fascinated by this recent Minnesota Monthly piece by Kevin Featherly and Frank Jossi on the current transition at the Center for the American Experiment. Fascinated...and not certain about the implications on politics in Minnesota.
- Has partisan politics become so fractionalized and narrow (on both sides) that the Center under either Mitch or Annette couldn't appeal to a significant enough base of support to thrive?
- Has politics changed so much that organizations can still be successful even though they represent a smaller, but still very passionate, slice of the ideological pie?
Annette clearly did some good policy work: I thought their study on reforming the Legislature was a good start. Mitch's tone is more civil, but his policy direction more diffuse and cultural. Stay tuned, and I welcome comments and greater wisdom.
