Policy and a Pint: America's Checkbook - Overdrawn

Thursday, April 19

Doors - 5:00 p.m.

Program - 5:30 p.m.

Solera Restaurant, 900 Hennepin Ave., downtown Minneapolis

As Comptroller General David M. Walker pointed out in a recent appearance on the CBS news program "60 Minutes," America needs to get serious about the state of its finances. Between the aging of the baby boomers and rising health care costs, our nation faces enormous and growing financial burdens in the coming decades. What's at stake is America's economic growth and long-term standard of living. In Walker's view, it's time for policymakers and the public to face the facts, make some tough choices, and return America to a more prudent and sustainable fiscal path.
