Recent Accomplishments
You have helped the Citizens League improve Minnesota. Here is some of what we have done together in recent years:
Enacting change
| Long-Term Care:Our collaborative produced a working model to change an unsustainable financing system. |
|
| Budget: We identified citizen priorities for solving the state's recurring budget challenges and highlighted $24 billion in tax expenditures not being considered by
the Legislature to fill the gap. |
Transportation: We organized leadership and support to secure $188 million
for innovations to reduce congestion for employees in the I-35W South Corridor. |
| Water: We identified a new governance approach needed to protect Minnesota waters. The report continues to be used by decision makers in agriculture, government and other sectors. |
|
| Mental health:We transformed the mental health payment and service delivery system by convening the Minnesota Mental Health Action Group, culminating in the most comprehensive legislation and funding reform in two decades. |
Engaging Minnesotans
| Members and the public volunteer 1,300 hours per month on average to help us build and achieve our goals: More than 28,500 hours total in 2010 and 2011! |
|
| Our Common Ground principles model lay the foundation for citizens and government to work together to produce better public policy. |
|
| We provided roughly 1,000 hours of Quantum Civics Leadership Training in 2010 and 2011 during 28 sessions.. | |
| We've launched new projects and are taking a closer look at higher education reform, electrical energy, tiered teacher licensing and more. | |
| Our weekly email list has grown to more than 5,300, and we now have more than 1,700 Facebook fans and more than 2,100 Twitter followers. | |
| We sponsored nearly 200 public events in 2010 and 2011, attended by more than 5,600 Minnesotans. |
